A WORLD AWAY

With its vast harbour, mirror skyscrapers and the best Sushi restaurant in the World (in my opinion), Vancouver was a city that wowed. The Pacific Rim Fairmont hotel has views in every direction so whether you want a cityscape or endless water this is the place to stay. After a long flight the comfortable suite with all the essentials of a Nespresso machine and a deep marble bath were catered for.

The city is full of contrasts with the beautiful old Gas Town full of Diners serving buttermilk pancakes with pulled pork and stunning girls in dungarees hanging out with their bull dogs drinking coffee. At the edge of the chic, modem harbour was Japanese restaurant Miku where too many hours were spent ordering platters of fresh seafood and handmade sushi. Watching the chefs with their blades and blow-torches entertained whilst watching the sun set over the harbour. Almost everything in the city is walkable and it is best to do so as this is how the best vintage denim stores and donut stands are discovered.

I cannot recommend this city enough on its own as part of a larger trip...and don't forget to try the Sushi!  See you soon Vancouver.
